The SPACE The space is characterized by its lovely location in Peu de Finicular, right in front of the train station, and by its dimensions-130m2 interior space and 200m2 of garden. Apart from the exhibitions we'll have residencies, workshops with artists from the programme, talks, seminars and meetings. PROJECT DETAILSIn October 2012 after 3 years in our old space in a loft in Poble Nou we opened the new space with a series of gatherings with the garden as a backdrop for talks and other activities, and as always in Halfhouse, accompanied by something culinary.
THE FINANCIAL SITUATION Due to the current climate we have had to rethink our economic structure, although as an artist-run association we never expected it to be easy. Up until now we have had the support of CONCA the Catalan state cultural body and from the Barcelona council. We want to compliment this with a broader, more stable financial base, including individuals and private entities through monthly membership quotas to maintain and develop the new space and the initiatives we present. We want the economic distribution to be clear and transparent. The greater part of our funding goes towards providing good working conditions for the artists or other participants in the project, from production costs to transport expenses. A baseline fee of €200 per month is necessary to for the exhibition structure, from adapting the space accordingly to printing and distribution. Other costs incurred are administrational, however the greatest part of this is undertaken by Halfhouse with no remuneration. 50% of the rent of the space is assumed by the occupants/coordinators of Halfhouse while the other 50% will need to found through subventions.. At the end of each year our accounts are available for all members to see. For more information on the different options for membership click here. |
